    What acca insurance means

Acca insurance refunds your stake, usually as a free bet, when exactly one leg of a qualifying accumulator loses.

    How it works

The offer typically requires a minimum number of legs and minimum odds per leg. Its value depends on how often a five-fold fails by exactly one leg — which is more common than most people expect — and on how much of the refunded free bet you can actually convert into cash. A ₦10,000 refund as a free bet is worth roughly ₦7,000 in real terms.

    P(exactly one leg loses) = Σ over legs of [P(that leg loses) x Π P(others win)].

    A worked example

A five-fold with each leg at 70% wins 16.8% of the time and loses by exactly one leg 36% of the time. With ₦5,000 insurance at 70% conversion, the promotion adds about 0.36 x ₦3,500 = ₦1,260 of expected value per slip — enough to offset a meaningful share of the compounded margin.

    Why it changes your returns

It is one of the few promotions that genuinely improves the economics of the acca habit, provided you meet the terms without distorting your selections.

    Acca insurance for Nigerian bettors

Most Nigerian operators run some version of acca insurance or a bonus ladder. Read the minimum-odds requirement carefully — adding a junk leg to qualify usually costs more than the insurance is worth.

    Common mistakes

    • Adding a fifth leg purely to qualify, which lowers your win chance more than the insurance compensates.
    • Missing the minimum odds per leg and voiding the refund.
    • Valuing a free-bet refund at full face value.

    Questions bettors ask

    Is acca insurance worth it?+

Yes, if your selections would have been the same anyway. No, if it pushes you into extra legs.

    Is the refund cash?+

Usually a free bet, worth roughly 65% to 80% of face value.

    What if two legs lose?+

Nothing is refunded. The offer covers exactly one losing leg.
