Staking & bankrollAlso called: ROI on turnover

    What yield means

Yield is profit divided by total amount staked, expressed as a percentage. It measures how much each naira of turnover earns.

    How it works

Yield is the fairest single number for comparing bettors because it neutralises stake size and bet count. It is also easy to inflate: a handful of long-priced winners can produce a spectacular short-run yield that means nothing. Sample size and average price must always be quoted alongside it.

    Yield % = (profit / total staked) x 100. ROI on bank = profit / average bankroll.

    A worked example

400 bets, ₦4,000 average stake, ₦1,600,000 turnover, ₦96,000 profit. Yield is 6%. That is strong — professional football bettors often run between 2% and 5% — but only if the 400 bets are honestly logged, including the ones that were cancelled or cashed out early.

    Why it changes your returns

It tells you whether the edge is real and how much turnover you need to reach an income. A 3% yield means turning over ₦10,000,000 to make ₦300,000 — useful context for anyone imagining betting as a salary.

    Yield for Nigerian bettors

Tipster channels on Nigerian social media quote yields from cherry-picked windows without sample sizes. Ask for the full log, the average odds and the number of bets before believing any figure.

    Common mistakes

    • Quoting yield over 40 bets as if it were meaningful.
    • Excluding losing bets that were "not official tips".
    • Confusing yield on turnover with return on bankroll, which is a much larger number.

    Questions bettors ask

    What is a good yield?+

2% to 5% sustained over a thousand-plus bets on mainstream markets is genuinely good.

Why is my yield high but profit low?+

Small stakes or few bets. Yield is a rate; profit needs turnover behind it.

    Yield or strike rate?+

Yield. Strike rate says nothing without average odds — 80% winners at 1.10 loses money.
