Step 1 — Learn to think in probabilities
Decimal odds of 2.00 imply a 50% chance. If you cannot translate any odds to an implied probability in your head, you cannot evaluate a bet.
Step 2 — Build (or borrow) a model
You do not need a PhD model. A simple Elo or xG-based projection for a single league will already beat most public markets in soft pockets.
Step 3 — Stake using fractional Kelly
Half-Kelly captures most of the long-run growth with a fraction of the variance. It is the standard professional approach.
Step 4 — Track and review
Tag every bet by market, bookmaker, edge and result. Review weekly. Cut what does not work.
