Football prediction site in Nigeria: how to tell a good one from a bad one

Nigeria has hundreds of football prediction sites and almost none of them publish a verifiable record. This page gives you a four-test framework for judging any prediction service, explains exactly how Xtabet generates its free predictions, and shows you how to check our work rather than trust it.

Test one: is the record complete and timestamped?

A credible prediction site publishes every selection it has ever made, with the price available at the time of publication, and never edits history. If a site shows only winners, or shows results without prices, the record is decoration rather than evidence.

Prices matter as much as outcomes. A tipster who goes 60% on selections averaging 1.50 is losing money; a tipster who goes 35% on selections averaging 3.20 is winning comfortably. Any site that reports a win rate without an average price is hiding the important half of the story.

Ask for at least five hundred logged selections before drawing conclusions. Below that, luck dominates and any record — good or bad — is close to meaningless.

Test two: is the model calibrated?

Calibration means that when a model says 70%, the outcome happens about seventy times in a hundred. It is a much more demanding standard than accuracy and it is the property that actually makes predictions usable, because it lets you compare a probability against a price.

You can check calibration yourself. Bucket a site's published probabilities into bands — 50-60%, 60-70%, and so on — and compare the predicted rate against the realised rate in each band. Well-built models track closely. Sites that publish only "tips" with no probability cannot be tested at all, which is usually the point.

Xtabet publishes a probability for every selection precisely so this test is possible.

    Probabilities, not tips

A tip is an instruction. A probability is a claim you can audit against reality.

    Bands over averages

Aggregate accuracy hides miscalibration. Checking band by band exposes it.

    Sample size

Hundreds of selections per band before the comparison means anything.

Test three: does it beat the closing line?

The closing price on a heavily traded market is the sharpest available estimate of true probability. A prediction source that consistently recommends bets at prices longer than the eventual close is finding information before the market does, and that shows up as profit over time.

This is the professional standard for evaluating a bettor or a model, and it produces a verdict far faster than profit and loss does, because it is much less noisy. A few hundred bets of positive closing line value is stronger evidence than a year of flat results.

Track it with our closing line value calculator on any source you follow, including this one.

Test four: what is the site selling?

A prediction site that sells VIP subscriptions has an incentive to publish exciting selections rather than accurate ones, because excitement converts. A site funded by affiliate links has an incentive to push you toward whichever operator pays most, not whichever prices best.

Neither model is automatically dishonest, but you should know which one you are reading. Xtabet takes no subscription revenue for predictions, publishes everything free, and discloses commercial relationships on our affiliate disclosure page. Where we mention operators such as 8xbet, we mention them alongside the pricing comparison rather than instead of it.

    How Xtabet generates predictions

We fit a Poisson-based goal model per competition using historical results and expected-goals data, adjust for venue, rest, travel and known absences, and produce a full score matrix per fixture. Every market — 1X2, Over/Under, BTTS, correct score, HT/FT — is read off the same matrix, so our numbers are internally consistent.

We then compare the model probability against the de-vigged market price and publish the edge. Selections with an edge below five percentage points are published as passes. This is documented in full on our methodology page.

Everything is free, updates daily, and covers the Premier League, the major European leagues, the Champions League, the Europa League and the NPFL.
